How to calculate age from date of birth
Count the whole years since the last birthday, then the whole months since that day of the month, then the days left over. That is how age is counted for certificates, admissions and recruitment.
Example: someone born on Tuesday, 15 August 1995 is 30 years, 10 months, 16 days old as on Wed, 1 Jul 2026: 11,278 days. The next birthday, number 31, is Sat, 15 Aug 2026, 45 days later.
Age in months, weeks and days
Age in months is the whole years × 12 plus the months; in weeks and days it is counted from the date of birth. The same person is 370 months, 1,611 weeks or 11,278 days old. The calculator shows all three under the result.
Age as on the cut-off date of a notification
Set "Age as on" to the date the job or exam notice names, often 1 January or 1 July, not today: the notice checks its minimum and maximum ages, and any relaxation for your category, against your age on that date. The same person is 30 years, 4 months, 17 days old as on Thu, 1 Jan 2026, but 30 years, 10 months, 16 days as on Wed, 1 Jul 2026. For a school admission, use the date the school or the education department counts age on.
Good to know
- Use the date of birth in your SSC (10th class) certificate: that is the one offices accept.
- Born on 29 February? In other years the birthday is counted on 1 March.
- The result also names the day of the week you were born on: Tuesday, 15 August 1995.

How do I calculate my age in months?
Multiply the whole years by 12 and add the months: at 30 years, 10 months, 16 days, that is 30 × 12 + 10 = 370 months, and 16 days over.
What does "age as on" a date mean?
Your age on that date, not on the day you apply. "Age as on 1 July" means the age you were, or will be, on 1 July of the year the notice says.
Why does another calculator show one day more or less?
Some count the birth day itself, or count months as 30 days. This one counts calendar months and does not count the birth day.
