GOI granted 'Polavaram' funds

New Delhi: Central government has given its consent for funding of the multi purpose Polavaram project. Finance Minstry cleared the file related to Rs.2,991cr first phase funding of Polavaram project. In several occasions FM Arun Jaitley has given assurance of providing complete funds for the Polavaram project. During the announcement of Special Package/Assistance to AP Arun Jaitley told that GOI will fund the multi purpose Polavaram project from 2014 April 1, on which it was declared as a National Project. How ever the Project completion responsibility is transferred to Govt of AP in order to speed up the process. It is expected that first phase of Polavaram may be completed by 2018.
