Amaravati as world class hospitality hub soon
Vijayawada, Oct.16: Andhra Pradesh capital city Amaravati is on its way to becoming a world-class Hospitality-hub. Hospitality-sector giants of national and international repute are contemplating to study the potentiality of Amaravati to establish world class Star Hotels and Convention Centers in the capital region and over 20 hospitality-chains, including ITC Hotels, Leela Hotels, Mahendra Resorts, Holiday Inn, Hilton Hotels are keen on making Amaravati a star-studded hospitality hub.
With Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu putting the development process of Amaravati on super-fast track and has also shifted the entire State administration, there is an immediate demand for overnight accommodation in the capital region which cannot be served by the existing inventory of rooms. Amaravati is envisioned to be a foreign as well as a domestic tourist destination due to its cultural heritage as well as planned modern developments. As a result of this, this region has huge potential for the Star as well as Heritage category hotels. Besides, Amaravati will become a hub of economic and business activity and will require places for conferences, exhibitions, and meetings.
The State government, which is putting all-out efforts in devising innovative ways to build a world-class capital at Amaravati, a great heritage and civilisational centre, has decided to hold detailed consultations with leading International Hotels, Hotel chains, Hotel Developers and Investors in the Hospitality industry on October 18 at CRDA, Vijayawada, to establish world class hotels and convention centres at Amaravati.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who has directed P Narayana, Minister for MA&UD, Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary to CM, Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary, Energy, I&I, CRDA Dept & Ch. Sreedhar, Commissioner CRDA to conduct consultations with the representatives from the private sector also to foster hospitality growth in and around Amaravati and to encourage more business partnerships, made it clear that the main objective of the workshop should be to promote Amaravati as an inclusive capital city.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the workshop would be carried out into general orientation to present an overall vision of Amaravati followed by an open forum discussion. In this regard, Sri Ajay Jain, Prl. Secretary (Energy, I&I, CRDA) along with Dr. Sreedhar Cherukuri, the Commissioner, APCRDA will have an open dialogue with the stakeholders in understanding their requirements to establish their presence in the People’s Capital city. Apparently representatives from more than 20 hotels, including ITC Hotels, Leela Hotels, Mahendra Resorts, Holiday Inn, Hilton Hotels etc. are expected to be part of this discussion.
Disclosing these details, Ajay Jain, Prl. Secretary (Energy, I&I, CRDA), who along with Satish Chandra, Prl. Secretary to CM, Dr. Ch. Sreedhar, Commissioner CRDA briefed the Chief Minister on the programme of proposed consultations with prominent Star and Heritage category hotels, said that through this workshop an open and transparent process would be created and CRDA is hoping to create excitement amongst the Hotel chains as well as investors and developers for Amaravati.
Ajay Jain who has also discussed the agenda of the work shop with CRDA Commissioner and other senior officials, said that in tune with the vision of the Chief Minister to make Amaravati a happy, healthy and wealthy city, the CRDA has decided to conduct workshops with the stakeholders of different sectors like International schools, Hotel Industry, Hospitals, IT industry etc. to make them understand the potential of the Amaravati City in the respective sectors and for the interested parties, it is planning to provide requisite clearances immediately.
Now, with the proposal to conduct a workshop with the hospitality industry, the government expects that it would help improve overall economic development of the state through enhancement of tourism, employment potentiality to the local people, etc., and it would pave the way for transforming Amaravati as a Mega City, the Commissioner, CRDA, Dr.Sreedhar Cherukuri, said.
