Akhil Akkineni Emotional at ‘Lenin’ Pre-Release Event in Tirupati; Nagarjuna Hails Son’s Performance
Actor Akhil Akkineni made an emotional return to the spotlight on Sunday, July 5, as the pre-release event of his much-awaited film Lenin was held with grandeur at Nehru Municipal Grounds in Tirupati.

After nearly two-and-a-half years away from the screen, Akhil expressed deep gratitude and emotion while addressing his fans. He apologized for the long gap, saying, “There has been a gap. I’m sorry to everyone. The pain of not being able to communicate with you has stayed in my heart. Please accept me as one of your own and take me home with you. Only then will I be truly happy.”

The event saw a massive turnout of fans from across Chittoor district, turning the grounds into a sea of supporters. Police made elaborate security arrangements to ensure the event passed off smoothly. The sight of father and son — King Nagarjuna and Akhil — on the same stage sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Directed by Murali Kishore Abburu, Lenin is a rural Rayalaseema-based romantic action entertainer. Bhagyashree Borase stars opposite Akhil, with music composed by Thaman S. The film’s teaser, trailer, and latest song ‘Jaya Mangalam’ have received positive responses. It is scheduled for a grand worldwide release on July 10.

Speaking at the event, Akhil revealed that the story deeply resonated with his personal journey. He credited director Murali Kishore Abburu for crafting a narrative that mirrored his own pain and growth. He also showered praise on the cast and crew, particularly highlighting Thaman’s soulful music, Bhagyashree’s performance, and the support of senior actors like Brahmanandam, Shivaji, and Sunil. He thanked producer Nagavamsi and his father Nagarjuna for their unwavering backing.

Nagarjuna, who attended as the chief guest, expressed full confidence in the film. He admitted he was initially doubtful about Akhil playing a rustic character but was blown away after watching the movie. “You won’t see Akhil on screen — you will only see Lenin. He has completely immersed himself in the role,” Nagarjuna said. He described the film as a “Mahabharata unfolding in Seema” and praised the powerful love story at its core.

The veteran actor also shared a personal connection to the story, noting that it is set in Sri Ramapuram, his father Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s native village. He lauded Bhagyashree’s character Bharati as the “heartbeat” of the film and appreciated producer Nagavamsi’s strong belief in the project.

Concluding on a high note, Nagarjuna declared, “On July 10, our man is coming and he is going to rock it,” invoking the blessings of Lord Venkateswara
