Gandhinagar, Dec 1, 2016: Demonetisation heat touched the devotional sphere also. The currency ban and its cascading effects shown a significant drop in donations at temples and other devotional places. Keeping in view of this famous temples of Gujarat State have started introducing e-wallets, swiping machines, ATMs with deposit facility to accept cashless donations. Today, CM Vijay Rupani has inaugurated the digital donation channel at the Ambaji Temple in Banaskantha dist, to facilitate donations through credit card or debit card using the electronic swipe machines. He made a digital donation of Rs.31,000 with his wife's debit card. Ambaji temple trust sources said that after demonetisation, donations from devotees have come down by a minimum 30%. It is expected that digital transactions can help to bring normalcy. Dwarka Mandir Vyasthapan Samiti's vice president Dhanraj Nathwani said " I have raised this issue to assist devotees make donations without suffering under the impact of currency ban. Lakhs of people come to Dwarka and feel contended and gratified with the blessings of the lord Dwarkadhish" Ranchhodraiji temple's manager Ravindra Upadhyay says "we have initiated the process of digital transactions by introducing swipe machines, e-wallets and ATMs as we observed that after November 8 donations going down by 20%."
