Statehood giving positive results : Etela

Hyderabad, Oct.20: Finance Minister E Rajender today said that formation of Telangana state started giving positive results as expected and the government is offering priority to people’s welfare. He said that the Telangana government could release waters to canals under SRSP despite norms coming in the way. Following an appeal from MLA B Shobha and farmers of Choppadandi in Karimnagar district, the Government has set aside the norms and released 50 tmc waters to canals to irrigate crops downstream. This was possible in our own state and not in combined state. The previous governments neglected the region and ministers during congress regime ignored to come out to console the people facing drought and cyclones. He said that the flagship program of Mission Kakatiya helped to fill up lakes, ponds and tanks with abundant waters. These water bodies and reservoirs will close the mouths of the leaders criticizing the government. Our aim is to irrigate one crore acres over five years and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is for speedy completion of the projects, he remarked. He said that along with irrigation minister T Harish Rao he will make a visit to Karimnagar villages to look at the crops and waters being distributed. G Bapureddy a farmer, expressed happiness that the lakes restoration program helped them a lot to irrigate crops on time.
