Overseas scholarship guidelines soon: Etala

Hyderabad, Oct.14: Finance Minister Etala Rajender today said that guidelines for overseas scholarships are yet to be finalized. Interacting with a group of OBC students of Central University who called on him the minister said that the scholarship program will help them pursue higher education in foreign countries. They appealed to the minister to set up a separate institution on the standards of FICCI and DICCI for the BC welfare. He exhorted the BC students to make use of the scheme and benefit through higher education abroad. The government will further the scheme on finalizing the guidelines and will direct the officials concerned to expedite the scheme the finance minister stated. Every year the government plans to give the scholarship to about 300 students and each will get Rs 20 lakhs he said. The students have to attend a test in August for availing the scheme Rajender said. He also said that a cabinet meeting recently approved to set up 119 residential schools in the state during next academic year. The government is supplying fine rice to the welfare hostels he added.
