Copy formatted, then paste into Word, Google Docs or Gmail: the headings, lists and tables stay. Your tabs stay while this browser tab is open, through reloads and other pages; closing it clears them.
How to open a Markdown (.md) file
- Tap Open file and choose the .md file (or several), or drop them on the panel; or paste the Markdown into the box.
- It opens in Preview, formatted: headings, lists, tables, links and code. Both shows the Markdown beside it, to change as you read; Write, the Markdown alone.
- Copy it, send it or save it with the buttons under it.
A .md file is plain text with a few marks for its formatting. Software projects keep their README in one, note apps (Obsidian, Notion, Joplin) export to it, and AI chat apps answer in it. A phone opens it as plain text, marks and all; here it reads as a page.
Open a .md file on a phone or a computer
- Android: tap Open file and pick it from Downloads. A file sent on WhatsApp is in Android › media › com.whatsapp › WhatsApp › Media › WhatsApp Documents.
- iPhone and iPad: save the file to the Files app first (in WhatsApp or Mail: Share, then Save to Files), then tap Open file and Browse.
- Windows, Mac and Chromebook: drag the file from its folder onto the viewer, or click Open file.
- A README on GitHub: open the file, choose Raw, copy all of it and paste it into the box.
Tabs and full view
Each file opens in a tab of its own, and + starts a new one to write or paste in: up to 10, to keep several documents open and move between them while you browse. The tabs stay while this browser tab is open, when you reload the page or go to other pages and come back; closing the browser tab clears them, so download anything you want to keep.
To start over, open Clear above the page: Clear this tab empties the document you are looking at and keeps its tab open; Clear all tabs closes every tab and leaves one empty tab. The × on a tab closes just that tab. Whichever you choose, Undo puts it back for 10 seconds.
Full view fills the whole window with the viewer, the Markdown and the page taking all its height: press Esc or Exit full view to go back.
Copy a ChatGPT or Gemini answer without the stars
Chat apps write their answers in Markdown, so a copied answer often pastes with ** and ###
in it. Paste it here, then:
- Copy formatted, and paste into Word, Google Docs or Gmail: the headings, lists and tables come out as they look here.
- Send on WhatsApp: the marks become WhatsApp's own, so
**Milk** and *bread*is sent as*Milk* and _bread_, which WhatsApp shows in bold and italics.

Save it as a PDF or a web page
Print or save PDF opens the print dialog with the page alone: choose Save as PDF as the printer (on a phone, in the print menu). Download HTML saves it as a web page that opens in any browser, offline too except for its pictures. Download .md saves the Markdown itself, with your changes.
Questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the file and shows it; nothing of it is sent to ap7am or anywhere else. Your tabs are kept in this browser tab only, until you close it. Pictures in a document load from the web addresses it gives, as on any web page.
Why does a picture show only its name?
Its address is a file next to the Markdown on the writer's computer (images/logo.png), which a web page cannot reach. Pictures with a web address (https://…) show. Links to such files show as words, with the path when you point at them.
Does it show the HTML inside a Markdown file?
The everyday parts READMEs use: line breaks, folding sections, keyboard keys, pictures, centred blocks and more. Anything that could run on the page (scripts, forms, frames, styles) is left out, as GitHub does.
Can I write in Telugu?
Yes: Telugu shows in the preview, the copy and the PDF. To type Telugu with English letters, use Telugu Typing and paste it here.
Lines I typed one under the other show as one line?
In Markdown a new paragraph needs a blank line; a single line break joins the lines, as on GitHub. Tick "A new line wherever Enter was pressed" to keep each line, as in a chat.
