A simple Telugu editor: a title, headings and text, each part in its own font, size and colour; print it, or save a PDF, JPG or Word file.

The Word file has the parts in Word's own styles and uses the fonts' names: Word shows them if the computer has them. Get them free from Google Fonts: Noto Sans Telugu, Roboto.

How to make a Telugu page with headings

  1. Type, or paste from Word, Google Docs or a web page: the headings, bold, colours, sizes and centred lines come with it. To type Telugu in English letters (amma becomes అమ్మ), tick Type Telugu with English letters.
  2. Click into a line and choose from the first box: Title, Heading, Sub-heading or Normal text. Enter starts a new paragraph; Shift + Enter a new line in the same one.
  3. Select words and change their font, size, colour, bold, italic or underline. With nothing selected, the change is for the whole paragraph or heading the cursor is in. The font box shows the Telugu fonts for Telugu words and the English fonts for English ones; switch between them at its top. The Tx button (Clear formatting) makes it plain normal text again.
  4. To add a photo or a logo, use the picture button, or paste or drop one into the editor. Click the picture to choose where it goes: On its own line, or Left, text beside or Right, text beside (the text after it runs beside it, then on below it). Make it Small, Medium, Large or Full width, or any width with the Width slider; move it with Move up or Move down (or drag it), or Remove it. A small picture is never enlarged past its own size, so it prints sharp.
  5. The line spacing (the button with arrows) is for the whole page. For more room to write, the last button opens the editor full screen; Close or Esc brings the page back. Under The page, choose an A4 page or a square image, and the paper.
  6. Check it with Preview, then print it, or save it as a PDF, a JPG or a Word file.

What each one gives

  • PDF and Print: every page exactly as the page on the right shows it, sharp in print (200 dots an inch). The letters are a picture, so they cannot be edited or copied from the PDF.
  • JPG: the page as an image for WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram; the square image fits a post.
  • Word: the text, to edit, with the title and headings in Word's own styles (they show in Word's navigation pane), the fonts, sizes and colours, and the pictures. Word shows the fonts only if the computer has them: download them free from Google Fonts (the links are under the buttons).

What a paste keeps

Headings (Word's Heading 1 becomes a Heading, Heading 2 and below Sub-headings, its Title the Title), bold, italic, underline, colours (black text takes the page's colour), centred and right-aligned lines, and sizes: the size most of the text has becomes the normal size (14), other sizes are kept. A font is kept if it is one of the 27 Telugu or 20 English fonts here; other text takes the usual fonts. Lists become lines that start with their bullet or number. Pictures in a paste from Word or a web page are left out (add them with the picture button); a screenshot or a photo pasted on its own goes in. Tables become their text.

Questions

Are my text and pictures uploaded?

No. The page is made in your browser. The fonts load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com): Google sees the request for a font, not your text.

Why do the lines break differently in the editor?

The editor is as wide as your screen; the page on the right is drawn at the page's own width, and is exactly what prints (pictures, too, can look a little larger in the editor). Check the page, or open Preview to see it full size.

Is my document kept?

While this browser tab is open, yes, even if the page reloads; it is cleared when you close the tab. Many large pictures can be more than the browser keeps. To keep it, save the Word file.

Basic Print or Advanced Print?

For text in one look (a wish, a poem, a notice in one font), Basic Print is quicker: pick a font from lists that show your own words. For a title, headings and parts in different fonts and colours, use this one. Basic Print's "Open it in Advanced Print" brings your text and look here.

Can I use these fonts on a wedding card, a shop board or a book?

Yes. They are under the SIL Open Font License, which allows any use, printing and selling included.

Made on your device: your text is never uploaded. The fonts load from Google Fonts; they are free to use, in print too (SIL Open Font License). The page on the right is exactly what prints.
