1 Your PDF

2 Make it under

Forms count a KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes: the PDF made is under the limit either way.

Your smaller PDF

Your smaller PDF appears hereChoose a PDF and the size your form allows. Text stays sharp and selectable wherever possible.

How to compress a PDF to 200 KB (or 100 KB)

  1. Choose the PDF (or drop it on the box). Its size and number of pages show at once.
  2. Choose the size your form allows: 100 KB, 200 KB, 300 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, or type your own in KB.
  3. Tap Make it under 200 KB, then download the PDF or share it straight to WhatsApp or Drive.

Everything happens in your browser: the PDF is never uploaded to ap7am or anywhere else, and it is gone when you close the page. The file keeps your PDF's name with the limit added, such as certificate-200kb.pdf.

How the PDF is made smaller

The tool tries the gentlest way first and stops as soon as the PDF is under your limit:

  1. Already small enough? Then nothing is changed, and the page says you can upload it as it is.
  2. Keep the text. The pages are copied into a fresh PDF without the parts nobody sees (old versions of edited pages, thumbnails, editors' private data), packed tighter. If it is still too big, the photos and scans inside it are made lighter, step by step: first at 150 dots an inch of the page (sharp in print), down to 72 (a screen's sharpness), each a little more compressed. Text, fonts and lines are not touched, so the text stays sharp and can still be selected and searched.
  3. Pages as pictures. When even that is too big (a scanned PDF of many pages, a very small limit), each page is saved as a picture, at the sharpest setting that fits, from 150 down to 60 dots an inch. The page then says so plainly: the text can no longer be selected or searched, though it reads as before.

The new PDF is never bigger than yours. A form's "200 KB" may count 1,000 or 1,024 bytes a KB: the PDF stays under both.

Still too big?

If even the smallest pictures cannot fit, the page tells you the smallest size it could reach. Then take out the pages the form does not need with Split PDF, or upload it in parts. For photos of certificates, JPG to PDF straightens and whitens each page, which also makes it smaller; to put several documents in one PDF, use Merge PDF (it can keep the result under a limit too).

Questions

What size do TGPSC, APPSC, UPSC, SSC and bank forms want?

It changes with each notification. Many ask for certificates as a PDF under 200 KB or 300 KB, some under 100 KB or 500 KB, and a few up to 1 or 2 MB. Check the notification you are applying to, then choose that size here.

Will the text still be readable?

Yes. Text stays exactly as it is wherever the limit allows. When pages have to be saved as pictures, the tool picks the sharpest that fits; at a very small limit with many pages, small print can get soft, so check the first page shown before you upload.

My PDF is a scan. Why is it so big?

A scanner or a phone scan app often saves each page as a large photo. The tool makes those photos lighter first; for a scan this usually brings a page down to 30 to 80 KB with the words still clear.

Can it open a password-protected PDF?

Yes: type the password when asked (it stays on your device). A locked PDF is made smaller as pictures, and the new PDF has no password.

Is my PDF uploaded or stored?

No. It is read and made smaller in your browser; nothing is sent to ap7am or anywhere else.
