Jupally, four others allowed to inspect project

Hyderabad, Aug 18: The Karnataka state government has allowed Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Mahbubnagar MP Jithendar Reddy and three others to visit an irrigation project being constructed on River Krishna at Girijapur in the state. Earlier in the day, tension prevailed for a while as police stopped the delegation at Shakthi Nagar in Raichur district. Jupally spoke to senior officials and obtained permission to inspect the project. According to reports, the illegal barrage length is 1,170 metres and it has 194 gates and a storage capacity of 2 tmc. It is said that Karnataka is making efforts to raise Almatti dam height.
