Jio ads : Just Rs.500 Penalty For Using PM Pic!
New Delhi: It is heard that Reliance Jio may end up the controversy by paying just Rs.500 as penalty for using PM Modi's photo in electronic and print ads. On Thursday, In a written response in Rajya Sabha to the question asked by SP's MP Neeraj Shekhar, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting said that PMO hasn't grant any permission to Reliance Jio to use PM Modi's photo in ads and admitted that Govt was aware of those ads. Regarding the action against Jio, Minister informed that the Emblems and Names (prevention of improper use) Act 1950 will be administered by the Min of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. However Consumer Affairs Ministry officials said that they had not received any complaints regarding the misuse of PM pic. According to section-3 of the Act there is a list of about 3 dozens emblems and names that need prior permission of government before use. The list includes, President of India, Prime Minister of India, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru, Ashok Chakra, Government of India or any state, Governor of a state and United Nations Organisation.
