Two international red sanders smugglers held in Chennai

Intrernational red sanders smugglers Vishal and Sahu, who have fled from Andhra Pradesh and taking shelter in an industrial estate in Chennai, have been arrested. They have been clandestinely exporting red sanders logs from there. Following a tip-off, the Chittoor police in a joint police operation along with the forest rangers conducted a lightning raid on the industrial estate to nab Vishal and Sahu. The police have seized 7 tons of red sanders logs from their possession. The police have estimated the assets of smuggler kingpin Kollam Gangi Reddy of Cuddapah recently. While he is said to be worth Rs 2000 crore, Gangi Reddy appears to have given away his international co-conspirators, including Vishal and Sahu. Ever since the TDP government took over in Andhra Pradesh, many red sanders smugglers far and near have been nabbed. From each of them, tons and tons of red sanders have been seized. The huge haul raises the fear whether there are any red sanders trees, unique to the Seshachalam forests around Tirumala and Cuddapah forests, are spared by the international smuggling gangs.
