DK Aruna & Sampathkumar, MLAs, held for rasta roko

The reaction of the political leaders to the Telangana government's move to reorganise and increase the number of districts took a violent turn on Friday in the North and South of the State. At Janagama in Warangal district, the people freely indulged in stone throwing and damaged vehicles in support of their new district demand. Former Congress minister DK Aruna with her supporters staged a rasta roko at Erravalli cross-roads in Palamur district, demanding a separate district for her native Gadwal. Alampur MLA Sampathkumar joined the rasta roko in support of Aruna. As both the groups joined the stir, there was a massive crowd that stopped vehicles for kilometres at a stretch. As the police intervened, the followers resisted. Result there was a lot of tension in the area. The police used lathis and dispersed the crowds and arrested the two leaders, DK Aruna and Sampathkumar.
