Mushal Hussain Malik, wife of the imprisoned Jammu and Kashmir leader Yasin Malik, has been named a special adviser by Pakistan's Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq. Following the introduction of 19 interim government ministers, Pakistan President Arif Alvi disclosed the advisors to the Prime Minister. Among the list of five advisers revealed on Thursday, Mushal Hussain Malik stands out. She is now the Special Adviser on Human Rights and Women Empowerment. Mushal, a Pakistani citizen, studied at the London School of Economics. While the position of a special adviser might be below that of a junior minister, they play a crucial role in advising the prime minister on significant matters. Mushal and Yasin Malik first met during his visit to Pakistan in 2005 and tied the knot in 2009 in Rawalpindi. Notably, Yasin Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment in May by a trial court for charges related to funding terrorist activities.
