Karnataka: In a grand swearing-in ceremony, Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar assumed office as the new Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, respectively, marking the formation of the new Congress government in the state. The momentous occasion took place at the Kanteerava Stadium, where state Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office to the two leaders amidst an enthusiastic crowd. Siddaramaiah, who previously served as the Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018, took the oath in the name of God as he embarked on his second tenure. On the other hand, Shivakumar chose to take the oath in the name of his spiritual guru, Shri Gangadhara Ajja. While G. Parameshwara, another prominent Congress leader, pledged his commitment to uphold the Constitution, veteran leaders K.H. Muniyappa and K.J. George took their oaths in the name of God.
