Karnataka: On Saturday, Basavaraj Bommai, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, submitted his resignation after his party's defeat in the state Assembly elections. Accompanied by senior BJP leaders, Bommai handed in his resignation to the Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot at the Raj Bhavan. Taking responsibility for the party's loss, the former Chief Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring the welfare of the people without harming the economy and pledged to work efficiently as an opposition party. Despite receiving a higher percentage of votes, the BJP's seats decreased compared to the previous election. However, Bommai remained positive, stating that defeat is an opportunity for introspection and rectifying mistakes. He also reaffirmed the party's commitment to nation-building and declared that the result of the state election would not impact the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
