Telangana IT and Industries Minister, KT Rama Rao, has said that India would already be a $5tn economy if the rest of the country had performed as well as Telangana. Speaking at a conference on Tuesday, Rama Rao criticised the central government for penalising the state, saying it was not receiving adequate support for major projects, such as the Hyderabad Pharma City and Kakatiya Mega Textile Park. The minister added that the Indian government had not delivered on the promises made to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014. Rama Rao also questioned the impact of the “Make in India” initiative. He added that the country needed to find ways to compete with China, which has managed to manufacture and sell goods at prices lower than domestic products in other countries.
