Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma’s struggles in Test cricket continue, adding an unwanted record to his name. During the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Adelaide, Sharma failed to perform in both innings, getting out for single-digit scores.

In the second innings, Sharma managed only six runs off 15 balls before being caught off Australian captain Pat Cummins' delivery. His bat's edge sent the ball directly into the fielder's hands, cutting short his innings. In the first innings, Australian pacer Scott Boland trapped him LBW for just three runs.

This double failure marks the third Test match where Sharma has been dismissed for single-digit scores in both innings in a calendar year, joining an undesirable list in cricket history. Before Sharma, only two captains—Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya in 2001 and Bangladesh’s Mominul Haque in 2022—faced similar struggles.

India found themselves in a precarious position in the second innings, losing five wickets for just 128 runs. The team will need a strong comeback to avoid a potential defeat in the ongoing Test.
