Beware of new WhatsApp video calling 'invite'
A long waiting ended. Finally WhatsApp released its much anticipated video calling feature. Taking cue from it, spammers developed a fake website in order to hack the users information. On November 15, WhatsApp introduced its new video calling feature. Soon after the launch WhatsApp users cutting across the globe began receiving an invitation link to enable the feature. Once the WhatsApp user clicks on such invitation link, he is redirected to a webpage to enable the video calling feature. This spam website looks quite believable. The webpage has been designed such that even the most vigilant observant can also get deceive. When 'enable' option clicked, user will be directed to a new webpage which requires user information for verification. Then the user would be informed to share as well as invite four other contacts to enable this feature with the help of the same link. Though the process and page looks credible, clicking on this invitation link can expose the user to spammers. To avoid hacking, user should update his/her WhatsApp app through Apple Store or Google Playstore. Once it gets updated, the Video calling feature will be enabled automatically.
