Two terrorists linked to the Islamic State (IS) have been sentenced to five years in prison by the Delhi NIA court. The individuals, Mohammad Abdullah Basit (28) and Abdul Qadir (23) from Chandrayanagutta, Hyderabad, have also been fined Rs 2,000 each. The court made this decision public on Friday. The national investigation showed that the IS was planning to use explosives to create chaos and recruit young people into terrorism. Evidence showed that Basit was involved in taking IS supporters to Syria and used Instagram for his terror activities. He also introduced Qadir to the world of terrorism. They were both arrested on August 12, 2018, after searches in Hyderabad found explosives in their possession. The court finalized their punishments after reviewing the evidence and a charge sheet filed against them on February 7, 2019.
