'Jetlee' Movie Review

Comedian Satya, who earned good recognition with his comic timing, plays the lead role in Jetlee. The film is directed by Ritesh Rana, known for the successful Mathu Vadalara series. The key question is whether Jetlee has enough entertaining elements for the audience.

The story begins with Prajapathi (Ajay), a businessman who cheats people through a bank scam and escapes from the country. Minister Melkoti (Srinivas Vadlamani) gives the Intelligence Department the responsibility of bringing him back. But Prajapathi, who already knows that his life is in danger, pretends to surrender and plans to escape later.

While he is being brought from Dubai to Kochi on a flight, an attempt is made to kill him. Dr. Vedavyas (Satya), who is travelling on the same flight as a mentally unstable person, gets involved in the situation. What did Vedavyas do? How did he save Prajapathi? What terrifying situations happened on the flight? Did the flight land safely in Kochi? What is Vennela Kishore’s connection to the story? Who is Agent Shivani (Rhea Singha)? These form the rest of the story.

Director Ritesh Rana tried to mix comedy with a thriller backdrop, but Jetlee Movie Review makes it clear that the film suffers from a weak story and outdated comedy. The film has no freshness in its core idea and no real strength in its screenplay. Ritesh’s attempt to create comedy in the style of Mathu Vadalara and Mathu Vadalara 2 does not work here.

Most of the story takes place inside a flight. The director places all the required characters there, but none of them feel meaningful or properly written. The screenplay appears to be written for convenience rather than logic. Usually, a story connected to a banking scam creates curiosity about what happens next. But in this film, that curiosity is almost completely missing.

The movie is filled with spoofs and social media-style one-liners. Instead of entertainment, it creates confusion. From the beginning, the story starts with the flight and keeps moving around the same space without any real progress. The effort to create comedy in every scene is visible, but the comedy itself does not land. At times, the audience may feel like they are trapped inside a hijacked flight.

The first half passes to some extent with a few one-liners, but the second half tests the audience’s patience. The climax also feels chaotic. When the flight finally lands, the audience in the theatre may feel the same relief as the passengers in the film.

Ritesh Rana seems to have written many one-liner punches on films and people, believing he was making a hilarious entertainer. But many of those punches fail to work. In one scene, when someone says “move,” Gundu Sudarshan replies with a wordplay involving “Burnol.” Vennela Kishore’s character then delivers punches like “Babardasth” and “Extra Jabardasth,” but they do not generate laughter. Some audience members reportedly felt that even “Babardasth” comedy was better than the comedy in this film.

Satya appears in his usual comic style, but the entertainment does not work on screen. Except for a few single-line punches, his trademark comedy is missing. Vennela Kishore’s role makes one feel that he should stay away from such characters. Since the director has not designed any role properly, none of the actors get enough scope to perform.

On the technical side, Kaala Bhairava’s music and the cinematography are the film’s plus points. However, they cannot save the weak writing and poor comedy.

Overall, Jetlee completely fails to entertain the audience. With a weak story, dull comedy, and scenes that test patience, the film becomes a disappointing experience. At the box office, Jetlee is likely to face disappointment.
