Bhadrachalam: The Godavari River in Bhadrachalam is experiencing severe overflow, prompting officials to issue consecutive emergency warnings on Wednesday. The river's water levels crossed the critical mark of 43 feet in the afternoon, leading to the first emergency warning. Subsequently, at 9.45 pm, a second emergency warning was issued as the water level rose further to 48 feet. In addition to the Godavari River, Sriramsagar's flood level has also seen a significant increase due to heavy rains. The gates of the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SSRSP) are expected to be opened soon to manage the floodwaters. Pranahita is facing a steady flow of floodwater, while Karnataka and Maharashtra are experiencing continuous flood flow into the Krishna basin, impacting projects upstream. Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar projects are also witnessing slight flooding.
