Hyderabad: The Congress party expressed strong disapproval after the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri police handcuffed four farmers while transporting them from Nalgonda district jail to the Bhongir Sessions Court. The farmers had been arrested for protesting to protect their lands affected by the Regional Ring Road (RRR). As per sources, a significant number of farmers had staged a 48-hour protest at the Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri Collectorate on May 29 and 30, opposing the loss of their lands due to the RRR. The farmers' main contention was that they had already lost their lands four times in the past and were unwilling to part with their land for the ring road for the fifth time. As part of their protest, they even burned paddy on the road, which agitated the authorities. On the second day of the protest, while Minister for Energy G. Jagadish Reddy and MLA P Shekhar Reddy were present at the Collectorate, the farmers intended to submit a memorandum to the officials.
