A woman's claim that she was denied entry into the Golden Temple in Amritsar due to a Tricolour tattoo on her face has sparked controversy. It is a common practice for visitors to get the tattoo while attending the 'Beating the Retreat' ceremony at the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post. While the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has apologized for any misbehavior by its employees, the general secretary Gursharan Singh Grewal has stated that the issue is being politicized unnecessarily. "We are sorry if any of our employees misbehaved with the visitors. We have taken immediate action by replacing the employee and conducting an investigation into the incident. However, this incident should not be blown out of proportion and used to defame the Sikh religion," he said.
