Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials filed a case against the British Broadcasting Corporation's (BBC) India for violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). According to the reports, the case was filed due to alleged irregularities in foreign funding. The Income-Tax (I-T) Department had conducted a "survey" of BBC's Mumbai studio and Delhi office in February, during which they found discrepancies and inconsistencies in transfer pricing documentation. The IT department also reported that the income and profits disclosed by various entities within the BBC group were not commensurate with their scale of operations in India. Following the survey, the BBC had stated that it was fully cooperating with the authorities and hoped to resolve the matter quickly.
