Hyderabad: Telangana Minister K T Ramarao, who is also the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) party, has called upon the central government to halt the privatization of the steel plant in Visakhapatnam. In a letter addressed to the central government, KTR accused them of plotting to hand over steel industries to private companies. He further questioned why the center was not displaying generosity towards the Vizag steel plant, which had waived off Rs 12.5 lakhs loans to corporates. The minister demanded that the central government purchase Vizag steel plant products and provide financial assistance to the working capital. He also called for the allocation of Rs 5,000 crores to the steel plant and the consideration of its merger with the Steel Authority of India (SAIL).
