During a speech about women empowerment and the state government's welfare schemes for women at Killipalem village in Srikakulam mandal on Tuesday, Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao made a slip of the tongue and mocked men as a whole. He referred to men as "Poramboku" (vagabonds) who only attend meetings, eat, and then leave. The minister meant to imply that men are irresponsible. He stated that the government does not want men to dictate at home and that women are in charge of the house. Therefore, the government transfers scheme benefits to women. Dharmana claimed that men take advantage of the benefits but vote for other parties. Dharmana emphasized that Jagan Mohan Reddy understood the difficulties faced by women during his Padayatra and, therefore, introduced several welfare schemes for women.
