Senior leader D Srinivas Returns To Congress
On Sunday, D. Srinivas, a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), rejoined the Congress party after quitting nearly nine years ago. Along with his son, Dharampuri Sanjay, Srinivas joined the party in the presence of several Telangana Congress leaders, including Manikrao Thakare, the Telangana Congress in-charge, and A. Revanth Reddy, the state Congress chief.
Srinivas, who arrived at the state headquarters of the Congress party, Gandhi Bhavan, in a wheelchair, was re-inducted into the party in the presence of senior leaders such as K. Jana Reddy, Renuka Chowdary, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Ponnala Laxmaih, and Uttam Kumar Reddy. Srinivas' other son, D. Arvind, is an MP from Nizamabad for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to Telangana PCC Chief Revanth Reddy, D Srinivas is a valuable asset to the Congress party. Meanwhile, Telangana Congress cadres are willing to follow the instructions of the party high command after Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from Lok Sabha over allegations against Modi's surname issue.
In 2014, after the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) formed the first government in the newly carved-out Telangana state, D Srinivas switched loyalties to the TRS. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao rewarded him with the post of special advisor to the government and later made him a Rajya Sabha member in 2016.
However, on the eve of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the senior leader from Nizamabad faced allegations of anti-party activities.
