New Delhi: On Monday, CJI D.Y. Chandrachud administered the oath of office to two new judges of the Supreme Court, Justices Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar. The appointment of these two judges brings the Supreme Court to its full working strength of 34 judges. The Supreme Court Collegium, led by CJI D.Y. Chandrachud and including Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, K.M. Joseph, M.R. Shah, Ajay Rastogi and Sanjiv Khanna, had recommended the elevation of Justices Bindal and Kumar to the apex court on January 31. Prior to their appointment, Justice Bindal served as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and Justice Kumar served as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.
