On Sunday, Odisha's Health and Family Welfare Minister, Naba Kishore Das, was shot by an assistant sub-inspector of police in the Jharsuguda district. The incident occurred when the minister was on his way to attend a program in Brajarajnagar, and stepped out of his car at Gandhi square. The police officer reportedly fired at least four to five bullets, hitting the minister in the chest. He was quickly rushed to a local hospital before being airlifted to Bhubaneswar for further treatment. According to sources, his condition is reported to be critical. The reason behind the shooting is not yet known and investigation is underway.
