New Delhi: Justice Uday Umesh Lalit was sworn in as the 49th Chief Justice of India on Saturday. He took charges from the outgoing CJI NV Ramana. President of India Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to UU Lalit at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He has 74 days of tenure as he will retire on November 8. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, PM Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers attended the oath-taking ceremony. He said that he will follow the suggestion of outgoing CJI NV Ramana. He was appointed as the justice of the Supreme Court of India directly from Bar on 13th August 2014.
