Union Minister Smriti Irani was taken off guard today on a trip from Delhi to Guwahati when she was asked about the hike in fuel prices. A video of Union Minister Smriti Irani being questioned on the problem of inflation by Mahila Congress President Netta D'Souza has gone viral. The two were on a journey to Guwahati, and the chat took place when the plane touched down and passengers began to depart. D'Souza, the acting president of the Congress Women's Wing, questioned the Union Minister about rising LPG prices, to which Irani responded that the Centre has been assisting the needy through various social programmes. D'Souza later posted the footage, which shows the minister also recording the encounter on her cell phone. The Congress Party is opposing the ruling BJP and has organised statewide rallies against the government over the steady rise in the prices of gasoline, diesel, cooking gas, fertiliser, and key medicines.
