High Court Quashes FIR Against KTR Over Revanth Remarks
The Telangana High Court has granted significant relief to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao by quashing a First Information Report (FIR) filed against him at the Utnoor Police Station in the Khanapur Assembly constituency.
The FIR had been registered in September 2024 based on a complaint filed by Congress woman leader Aatram Suguna. The complaint stemmed from statements made by K. T. Rama Rao during a public meeting held in Utnoor, where he accused the Congress government of being involved in a ₹25,000 crore scam under the guise of the Musi River purification initiative.
K. T. Rama Rao alleged that the Congress administration was attempting to divert funds earmarked for the Musi project and utilize them as if operating a “Reserve Bank,” aiming to secure resources for the upcoming national elections.
Following these allegations, Aatram Suguna lodged a formal complaint stating that K. T. Rama Rao’s comments had tarnished the reputation of the Congress party. She claimed that his remarks were baseless and aimed at undermining the stature of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. She demanded legal action against K. T. Rama Rao for making defamatory statements.
The High Court has now dismissed the case, thereby providing legal reprieve to K. T. Rama Rao.
