Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed strong outrage over allegations that YSRCP (YCP) leaders and activists attempted to attack teachers selected under the Mega DSC Sports Quota at the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office in Vijayawada.
Speaking during his visit to Kuppam, the Chief Minister reacted sharply to the incident. He made it clear that the government would not tolerate rowdyism or anarchy in the state and warned that those indulging in such acts would face severe consequences. “Attacks on teachers will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Strict action will be taken against the culprits,” Naidu asserted.
According to reports, teachers selected under the sports quota had gathered at the SAAP office in Vijayawada on Monday to meet Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, the SAAP Chairman, and Managing Director. They intended to submit a representation affirming that their appointments were conducted transparently and that their certificates and medals were genuine. This came amid ongoing criticism from YCP leaders alleging irregularities in the Mega DSC Sports Quota recruitments.
At the same time, a large number of YCP leaders and workers arrived at the SAAP office and began protesting against the government, raising slogans over alleged irregularities in the DSC appointments. The selected teachers responded with counter-slogans demanding justice and an end to baseless accusations. Heated verbal exchanges and competing slogans led to rising tension in the area, prompting police intervention.
Chief Minister Naidu strongly criticised the YCP, stating that the party was becoming increasingly aggressive and anarchic. “In Vijayawada, rowdies are attacking teachers. The government will not remain a silent spectator. Strict action will be taken against those involved in such acts,” he said. He also referred to an incident involving a Sakshi reporter and described the YCP’s behaviour as extremely condemnable.
Naidu advised that if there were genuine grievances, the opposition should approach the courts legally rather than resorting to physical attacks or instigating rowdies against teachers. He recalled similar rowdyism during the previous government’s tenure and alleged that attempts were made to obstruct him even in Kuppam. Challenging the opposition, the Chief Minister said that if the YCP had evidence regarding the sports quota appointments, they should bring it to the Assembly, where the government was prepared to counter them with its own evidence.
Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy also strongly condemned the incident. Education Minister Nara Lokesh expressed severe anger over the developments, stating on X (formerly Twitter) that YCP groups had attacked the DSC-2025 sports quota teachers. He accused the YCP of making fake allegations of irregularities, which he said revealed Jagan Mohan Reddy’s “evil intentions.” Lokesh alleged that rowdy-sheeters, ganja and blade batches were instigated against the teachers and that attacking teachers—who are regarded like gods—with rods and sticks was highly condemnable.
Lokesh asserted that those who attacked the teachers would not be spared and that strict action would be taken. He urged the YCP to stay away from government schools and teachers. The incident has further heated up the political atmosphere in the state.
