Kothagudem MLA Faces Setback as Supreme Court Dismisses Petition

Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao faced a setback in the Supreme Court after the apex court dismissed his petition. The MLA had approached the court seeking to quash a petition filed by his political rival, Venkata Rao, who had contested against him in the 2023 Assembly elections. Venkata Rao had previously filed a plea in the High Court, alleging discrepancies in the affidavit submitted by Sambasiva Rao during the election process.

In response to Venkata Rao’s petition, Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao had initially approached the High Court with a quash petition, aiming to get the plea dismissed. However, the High Court ruled against him and rejected his petition. Subsequently, Sambasiva Rao escalated the matter to the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court's decision. Despite his efforts, the Supreme Court upheld the High Court's earlier verdict and dismissed his appeal, dealing a blow to his legal strategy.
