High Court Warns HYDRA Over Procedural Violations in Demolition Case
Despite prior instructions from the court regarding proper procedures, HYDRA allegedly repeated the same practices. The court warned that if such actions continue, HYDRA’s commissioner might be summoned again.
HYDRA demolished structures in Khajaguda today, citing illegal constructions in the Full Tank Level (FTL) zone. The affected parties, including Mekala Anjaiah, challenged the demolitions through a lunch motion petition before Justice K. Lakshman.
During the hearing, the High Court noted that the demolitions occurred before the 24-hour notice period had elapsed. “How can demolitions proceed without giving the victims adequate time to respond?” the court asked. It directed HYDRA to adhere strictly to legal procedures for clearing encroachments. The court instructed issuing fresh notices and taking action only after considering the petitioners’ explanations.
