New marketing policy soon: Harish Rao

Hyderabad, Oct.16: The State Government is mulling options to launch a new Marketing Policy besides starting 30 market yards in addition to the existing ones in the State. This was stated by Minister for Marketing and Irrigation T Harish Rao after launching a workshop on market yards and training program for marketing chairmen, secretaries and officials at NIRD in Agriculture University campus here. Speaking on occasion, Harish Rao exhorted the market yard chairmen to consider the market yard and the farmers as a family and try to resolve their issues. “They must offer dedicated services at the market yards and help farmers. The Chairmen are hardly spending a couple of hours at the market yards which will not serve the purpose”, he pointed out. “We have launched on experiment basis the use of dryers in market yards in Jangaon and will be extended to other districts. The new chairmen should remain friendly with the farmers and resolve their issues by staying in the market yards from morning to evening. The government wants to maintain quality in every aspect and to offer transparent services enabling the farmers to get better prices to their produce”. Vouching for more publicity for Rythu Bandhu scheme, Harish Rao asked them to offer minimum support price to farmers for their produce, including cotton and any other crops. Coordinated efforts will offer solution to the problems and farmers should store their produce in the government godowns. The government was spending more funds to improve storage capacity, he added.
