Jana Reddy declined CM post for Telangana

Congress senior K. Jana Reddy on Tuesday revealed that his Telangana leanings had prevented him from accepting the party high command offer of Chief Ministership to him in the thick of the separate Telangana agitation in the recent past. With the revelation, it is now confirmed that the Congress leadership wanted to dump N. Kiran Kumar Reddy who got the position through lobbying by Jairam Ramesh and others on his behalf. But the party wanted a Telangana leader to head the combined State and made the offer to Jana Reddy. However, Jana Reddy, who wanted a separate Telangana, had declined the offer. Those were the democratic values he upheld. But what does he see today? Gutta Sukhender Reddy, who was given the party ticket twice, was defecting to the ruling TRS. Normally cool Jana Reddy was all fire at the defections from the Congress. He asked why such deterioration in values? The Congress senior leader said Golden Telangana was not possible through Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He said along with Gutta Sukhender Reddy, all the the Congress leaders who were defecting to the ruling TRS should show their integrity by resigning from their posts and contesting the elections again. Jana Reddy said there was a great need for amending the anti-defection law because of the defections continuing without let or hindrance.
