Rythu Bazaars sans middlemen soon: Harish Rao
Hyderabad, June 12: Marketing Minister T Harish Rao today said the State government was committed to the welfare of the farmers growing vegetables through modern Rythu Bazars by removing the menace of middlemen.
Inaugurating a modern building complex of Rythu Bazaar in Karimnagar along with Finance Minister Etala Rajender, MLA G Kamalakar and officials, Harish Rao said the vegetable growers will benefit from Rythu Bazars by selling their produce for the better price. “For this we are firm to remove the middlemen’s problem”, he said, adding that Rs 4.50 crore were being spent for modernising Rythu Bazaars across the State. Besides vegetables, steps are also being taken to ensure that all other shops to sell fruits, flowers, mutton, chicken and others at one place to enable the people to get them at one go.
He directed the officials to ensure that the farmers’ produce at these bazaars will get minimum support price and help them to know about vegetables, fruits and other crops at the national level. He also asked the district Collector Neetu Singh to encourage farmers to go in for sprinkler and drip irrigation and grow vegetables locally. This is to avoid getting some of the vegetables from other States to Karimnagar, he said. Rythu Bazaars will also be set up at Siricilla, Ramagundam, Vemulawada and other places.
Marketing AD Prakash, Agriculture market secretary Padmawati, Mayor Ravinder Singh, Zilla Parishat Chairperson T Uma and officials were present.
