Bothsa, YCP leaders to call on Mudragada today
Following the call for unity of Kapus by Kapu Unity Platform leader Mudragada Padmanabham, community leaders in the YCP, Bothsa Satyanarayana, MLA Dadisetty Raja, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and Ambati Rambabau on Saturday left for Rajamundry.
They would be meeting the fasting Kapu supremo Mudragada Padmanabham, who was arrested and lodged in the Rajahmundry Government hospital.
A few days ago, Mudragada gave the call to the opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh to support the cause of the Kapus. He had also met prominent opposition leaders.
Mudragada has gone on a fast-unto-death. He wanted to undertake the fast from home. When the police went to arrest him at his Kirlampudi residence, he evaded arrest and threatened to commit suicide by consuming an insecticide.
Top police officials of the region went to Kirlampudi, but Kapu leaders there wanted the papers of the grounds of arrest. They were not convinced, and lawyers were summoned.
Meanwhile, the police first arrested the followers and later Mudragada himself. He was told he would be taken to the Rajajmundry CB-CID office, where the Kapu leader wanted to be taken. The police thought better of it, and got him admitted to the Rajahmundry government hospital instead.
