Senator tables bill to raise pay of H1-B visa holders, trouble for foreign staff
Hyderabad, Dec 12: In a significant development, Republican senator Ted Cruz introduced a bill in the American Senate for providing a minimum salary of $110,000 per annum to H-1B employees.
Cruz believes this will help in preventing employers from replacing hard-working Americans with low-cost foreign workers.
Though this bill has less chance of passing through the Congress, but if it is passed into law it will turn H-1B visas financially non-viable for US-based organisations, which heavily rely on highly skilled foreign tech employees.
Cruz is in the race for a Republican presidential ticket for the 2016 White House bid.
