Amaravati district to be carved out from Guntur, Krishna

Vijayawada, Oct 09: Andhra Pradesh government is contemplating to set up Amaravati revenue district. The state government earlier decided to form Amaravati registration district but now changed its plans. The revenue department shelved registration district plan and proposed Amaravati revenue district. According to sources, the regions falling under CRDA in Krishna and Guntur districts will come under the proposed new district. Officials are in favour of forming Amaravati revenue district as all the states have districts which are named after their capitals. If the name of Guntur is carried in Amaravati's address, it would create confusion. It may be recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu has said that government would reorganise the state into 25 districts on the basis of Lok Sabha constituencies.
