Balapur laddu fetches Rs 10.32 lakh

Hyderabad, Sep 27: The world famous Balapur laddu which was auctioned today fetched Rs 10.32 lakh, an increase of Rs 82,000 over the last year. Excitement and surprises marked the Balapur laddu auction. The laddu auction is being held since 1994 and this year the laddu was sold for highest ever price of Rs 10.32 lakh. The bid started from Rs 1,116 and 24 persons participated in the auction. Kallem Madamohan Reddy bought the laddu. Balapur laddu has been the centre of attraction during the Ganesh festivities for the past two decades. Money from the auction would be used for development of the village. The entire village will stop consuming non-veg foods and liquor during Ganesh festivities. Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, Maheswaram MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, Senior BJP leader and MLC N Ramchander Rao and others were present.
