School in Odisha mourns 'demise' of Vajpayee, pays tribute!!
Hyderabad, Sept 14: It was a blunder of Himalayan proportions.
The head master of a primary school in Odisha is said to have shut down the school on September 11 after acting on news of the 'demise' of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Vajpayee is very much 'alive'. However, his health had been deteriorating for the past few years.
The head master, identified as Kamalkanta Das, of Budakhunta Upgraded Primary School in Oupada block of Balasore district was attending a teachers' training programme on that day when he heard the news of Vajpayee's death from a fellow teacher.
He then directed his school to shut down for the day. Following which the students and teachers held a memorial meeting for Vajpayee before shutting down for the day.
When locals came to know of this, they were agitated and complained to the District Collector against the headmaster.
The Collector, Sanatan Mallik, said the head master will be placed under suspension. "If required criminal proceedings will be initiated against the headmaster," he said.
