YSRCP demands discussion on Polavaram

Hyderabad, Sep 03: The YSRCP has demanded discussion on Polvaram Project in AP Assembly here today. Speaking in a discussion on drought conditions in the state, Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that government has reduced the input subsidy for farmers. The state is reeling under severe drought conditions and instead of raising input subsidy to farmers, the government has reduced it, he said. Jagan said that government has not yet released Rs 1,690 crore input subsidy to the farmers for the year 2013-14. He said that farmers face problems whenever Chandrababu comes to power. Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao raised objection when Jagan tried to raise Polavaram project issue. The matter was discussed yesterday. The house is discussing drought situation in the State and Polavaram issue cannot be raised now, Kodela said. Pandemonium prevailed for a while as YSRCP members demanded for discussion on the issue. Subsequently, the Speaker adjourned the house till tomorrow.
