Caste associations signboards demolished at ANU

Guntur, July 26: The police today demolished signboards of caste-based associations on the premises of Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) here today. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, during his recent visit to the university, expressed shock over the presence of case-based organisations and directed the officials to demolish all the sign boards. As a precautionary measure, officials closed down the university for 10 days. All the hostels were vacated yesterday itself. ANU Registrar issued orders cancelling all caste-based organisations on the university premises. It may be noted that protests became order of the day at the university after the death of B Arch first year student Rishikeswari.
