FIEO Highlights New Global Opportunities for Indian Exporters
Hyderabad, August 7, 2026: India remains competitive in global markets as new opportunities emerge for exporters across developing economies, speakers said at a two-day programme organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) in Hyderabad on export opportunities and starting an export business.

Amit Kumar, AGM and Branch Head, ECGC Limited, said ECGC plays a crucial role in international trade by providing credit insurance against the risk of non-payment by overseas buyers. He said such insurance helps mitigate risks for exporters and facilitates access to finance by providing coverage to banks, ultimately supporting India’s exports.

“Entrepreneurs should avail themselves of the customised insurance services offered by ECGC and benefit from risk coverage. After protecting themselves against the risk of non-payment by overseas buyers, exporters can explore new buyers in different countries to increase their turnover,” Amit Kumar said.

Srinivas Tatikonda, Zonal Manager, ICICI Bank Limited, emphasised the importance of export finance in international trade and outlined the bank’s online services for exporters and importers. These include real-time currency tracking, customised foreign exchange solutions and payment tools aimed at simplifying trade processes and improving operational efficiency.

Srinivas Tatikonda said ICICI Bank Limited continues to partner with FIEO in its activities and showcase financial opportunities available through banks and other institutions.

Kamal Jain, the programme’s lead speaker and a logistics service provider, said Indian exporters were seeing growing opportunities in global markets and highlighted FIEO’s role in helping start-ups and young entrepreneurs explore export opportunities.

“Free trade agreements are the backbone of international trade. They reduce tariffs, lower barriers and make transactions easier and faster, and will play a pivotal role in helping goods and services move smoothly across borders,” Kamal Jain said.

Kamal Jain said the global export landscape was undergoing structural changes, with demand patterns shifting away from traditional markets and new opportunities emerging across developing economies. He said e-commerce, postal services and digital platforms were enabling even small businesses and start-ups to explore participation in international trade.

Kamal Jain also stressed the importance of quality, compliance, branding and value addition. “As global buyers become more selective, exporters must focus on reliability, sustainability and long-term partnerships,” Kamal Jain said. He advised exporters to make use of emerging opportunities and leverage FIEO’s services in policy advocacy, market intelligence and capacity building.

Putta Ravinder from the Department of Posts, Government of India, outlined postal schemes available to exporters, including direct postal services and international mail products designed to provide district-level access to global markets.

Ch. Raju, Regional Head, ICICI Bank Limited, briefed participants on export finance, foreign exchange risk and treasury services.

Apeksha Gupta, Head-Skilling, VCJ Foundation, addressed topics including market identification and product-market fit, finding international buyers, B2B portals, trade fairs and digital tools, building an export brand, communication, negotiation and lead conversion.

R. Kulkarni, Head of the Telangana Chapter of FIEO, said exports from states were crucial drivers of India’s economic growth, employment generation and global competitiveness. “Strong state-level export growth not only boosts foreign exchange reserves but also strengthens India’s position in the global economy,” R. Kulkarni said.

R. Kulkarni said FIEO provides value-added services to entrepreneurs and personnel engaged in international trade, particularly in navigating procedures and compliance requirements and completing necessary trade formalities. R. Kulkarni also outlined FIEO’s services, particularly the Indian Business Portal and Indian Trade Portal, and urged participants to become FIEO members and explore business opportunities.

The programme was designed to raise awareness about international trade, setting up an export company, the Foreign Trade Policy, export finance, export incentives, product and market selection, identifying overseas buyers, Incoterms 2020 rules, payment terms with a focus on letters of credit, export documentation, GST provisions, free trade agreements and recent developments, credit risk management, and the role and services of export promotion councils and FIEO.
