4 Telugus-run hotels attacked, destroyed in Chennai

Chennai, April 12, 2015: For the sixth day in succession, unruly people continued their attacks on Andhra properties in Tamil Nadu protesting against the encounter killing of 20 Tamil red sander wood cutters in Seshachalam forests near Tirupati last Tuesday. The anarchic mobs attacked and destroyed four hotels run by Telugu people in Ambali Nagar in Chennai early Sunday morning resulting in loss of properties worth crores of rupees. The hotel managements lodged a police complaint with the police. Following the attacks, Chennai police have further intensified security at key establishments and properties owned by Telugu people. Managements of Telugu establishments have sought more protection to their interests in Chennai and other cities. Meanwhile, all TN cities-bound APSRTC buses were confined to their depots in AP for the sixth day in row. Police were deployed at several sensitive areas in AP-TN boarder as a precautionary measure.
