Pulasa, a prized variety of fish, commanded an unprecedented price in Yanam. During the monsoon season, following the Tolakari ritual, the Godavari River would turn a striking red due to natural phenomena. This year, the availability of pulasas in the market was slightly lower. The fish had been elusive, caught only once or twice in the last month in fishermen's nets, with several days passing before they reappeared. Eventually, a haul of two kilograms of pulasa fish was reeled in at Yanam. The unique Pulasa fish was presented in the market, attracting attention from enthusiasts. As the fisherwoman Ratnam displayed the fish, fervent Pulasa admirers vied with each other to acquire it. This extraordinary fish was successfully sold, setting a new benchmark with a price tag of Rs. 16 thousand. Reportedly, the availability of Pulasa fish in the Godavari River has notably dwindled in comparison to previous times.
